Annotation text from the Salem Witch Trials: Restoring Justice exhibition:
Multiple accusers gave evidence against John Proctor Sr. at the examination. This document records testimony by Joseph Pope that Proctor threatened Tituba’s husband John Indian— who, like his wife, was enslaved by the Reverend Samuel Parris—for accusing Proctor of afflicting him and others by witchcraft. In a deposition that same day, Parris gave evidence against John and Elizabeth Proctor.
