- Description
- None of the mill buildings in the Naumkeag Steam Cotton Company complex survived the fire. The complex was bordered by Union, Peabody, and East Gardner Streets. It was accessible via the Union Street Bridge, also destroyed by the fire. Temporary offices for the company were established in the Salem YMCA on Essex Street. William P. McCullan, manager of the company, vowed to rebuild.
