Robinson I am today in receipt of your favor of the 8th [illegible] and it affords me much satisfaction to hear from you and yours, as well as of the purposes of our friends in Ohio in the courts? of the good cause. In reply to the invitation of the Western Committee to me to visit your state the present winter and join in the general effort for the advancement of the A. S.? cause, I may in the first place remark I have not received any invitation by letter or otherwise from our mutual friend P. Pillsbury in regard to it, and if I had, I should have been obliged to answer him as I must you on behalf of the Committee to wit. That the cares of my family together with my own poor health have confined me at home since my return from Vermont, and are likely to do so for the most of the winter I greatly fear from present indications. This is one reason why I must decline.
