David Pingree Papers
The papers of the prominent Salem merchant David Pingree (1795-1863) deal predominately with Pingree's varied business dealings. The papers digitized in this online collection represent only a small proportion of the 151 boxes of archival material held by the Phillips Library and relate primarily to David Pingree's maritime shipping interests. Pingree owned or held joint ownership in dozens of vessels throughout his life. Ships' papers include bills of lading. accounts, receipts and invoices, lists of cargo, insurance polices, correspondence, and other records. These papers were digitized with the support of the Pingree heirs.
