The Mount Washington Summit Road Company Records contain administrative, operational, and legal records of the corporation dating to the 19th and 20th century. The Mount Washington Summit Road Company was chartered in 1859 to complete and administer a half-finished carriage road leading to the summit of Mount Washington. The records digitized in this online collection represent a small proportion of the physical collection. Digitized records include photographs from the 1861 opening of the road and maps chiefly dating to the 1880s and 1890s. These papers were digitized with the support of the Pingree heirs.
